NEW ZEALAND TRIUMPH AT GEORGE 7S PDF Print E-mail

New Zealand continued their fantastic start to the season with their second IRB Sevens Series victory in as many weeks at the Emirates Airline South Africa 7s in George. After triumphing in Dubai only a week earlier, New Zealand stamped their authority at the top of the leader board, with a convincing 21-12 win over Fiji in the final.

However, the New Zealanders had a bumpy path to the final after they suffered a defeat in the group stages, which set up a quarter final against a young and exciting England side that won all their group games. New Zealand came back from 19-5 down at half time to progress passed England and on to the final stages of the tournament.

New Zealand now travel home for the third leg of the series with a maximum 48 points, with Fiji a close second at 36. England lie in 3rd place with 28 points while last years winners South Africa trail behind in 8th with 16 points.
